The Cultural Centre includes the unique in Greece 3D High Definition theatre, an Exhibition Hall which holds periodic exhibitions from Mount Athos and various works of art. Moreover, it includes a Congress Hall and the Municipal Conservatoire.
Theatre
Theatre is the innovating part of the building. Its speciality springs from its characteristics:
- It shows 3D video with the help of special equipment
- The content is (HD) High Definition video, so it includes more details than the usual videos
- It can, also, show 3D digital productions (animations)
- The spectator is wearing special glasses in order to watch the 3D video
- The theatre has 70 seats
- The screen is hollow, 5m high and 10m wide. It is almost as high as a 2-floor building. Its surface is 50sq. metres
- The theatre has a 6-channel sound system driving 11 speakers
- The screen is painted with aluminium and perforated with millions of small holes to let the sound through the audience.
- When 3D videos are shown, two projections systems are used (one for each eye) with 4 projectors
Exhibition Hall
In the ground floor there is the exhibition hall which hosts periodic exhibitions from Mount Athos, collections of paintings, exhibitions about Aristoteles and Xerxe’s canal and other exhibitions. This period two exhibitions are hosted, one from Vatopedi monastery and one from Simonos Petra monastery.
Congress Hall
The 200-seat Congress Hall is offered for various uses such as seminars and lectures.
Municipal Conservatoire
For the learning of classical and traditional music, there is the Municipal Conservatoire, which is established at the Cultural Centre
